If you’ve ever dreamt of small town living, Claremont Minnesota could be the place for you. The town of Claremont, located approximately 30 miles from Rochester in south-eastern Minnesota, is giving away residential building lots for free. After the housing market crash in 2006, Claremont was left with 14 empty lots after a developer abandoned plans to develop the parcel. After being unable to sell the lots, the town decided to give the lots away for free. Claremont, which has seen a decline in population in recent years, is hoping this initiative will attract new residents.
