Despite giving your best efforts to save and budget your finances, is your income isn’t just cutting it?
It is also inevitable that sometimes unexpected things happen.
Your car breaks down. You get sick. You lost your phone. You don’t have extra money to pay for these extra expenses. So what should you do to earn extra cash fast?
Here are some practical ways to earn money fast. When I say fast, I don’t mean instant. It means that you still have to work for it but you don’t need a huge capital. You can immediately raise income if you have the right skills and strategies.
1. Sell your old stuff
Time to declutter. Sell the stuff you don’t use but are still working and in good conditions. Use platforms online such as Craigslist, eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
Raid your closet. Dispose of hose you haven’t worn in years. How about the clothes your children have outgrown? Sell them to a thrift shop. You probably won’t own a fortune but at least, it’s still something.
Do you read books? It’s hard to let go of the books especially your favorite ones but if you are not sentimental, sell them on Amazon. Or consider having a garage sale. Call the whole neighborhood and your friends to visit your house for some good book deals. Or better yet, sell them on Facebook.
2. Babysitting/Pet sitting
Parents live a crazy life. They would love to find reliable babysitters who can take care of their little ones while they’re away from home.
If you love children or pets and you have a free time, volunteer to babysit or pet sit but make sure that you are responsible enough because it is never easy to take care of someone else’s children.
3. Make use of your talent and skills
Do you draw? Are you good at hosting or singing? Do you take photographs? Are you a technical person? Why not offer your services for a price? Take advantage of talents and skill because not all have them and you have worked hard to learn them.
4. Run errands for other people
Knocking doors around your neighborhood to give random services can give you great bucks. Do they want their houses to get cleaned up? They may need some help to shovel snow, cut lawns, move furniture or paint their room. This could get physically tiring but definitely a sure money.
5. Be an Uber/Lyft driver
If you need a flexible job, drive for Uber/Lyft. You can do this after work or while waiting for your children when they’re at school.
6. Be a tutor
Are you knowledgeable in Math, Science or Computer? Are you patient and can tolerate kids’ behavior when teaching? Look for clients around your circle or you can apply as an online teacher and they will be the one to set a class appointment for you.
7. Rent out a room on AirBnB
When you live in a highly desirable location or near tourist spots, renting out a room on AirBnB means good money.
You can also rent out space when someone needs a temporary storage or your garage to someone who needs a temporary car parking.
8. Get paid as a freelance writer
If you can turn a boring article into an exciting and interesting one, then you are perfect for this gig. Bloggers usually find someone who can contribute special articles to their pages. If you love writing and you love words, you’ll be able to get paid up to $20 per article without feeling that you’re actually working.
You can also start your own blog too. Earnings may take some time though but if all went well and you needed money again, then it will be another source of extra money.
9. Volunteer to work over time
Spending longer hours at work is not really a good idea but if you need money, this could somehow be acceptable. Just make sure that overtime in your company is billable.
10. Take paid surveys
By answering surveys online, you can make money. Online websites will pay for your opinion and feedback they can use for market research.

There is never an easy way to generate cash. Through hard work and being extra resourceful, earning extra money seem to be not that hard to fulfill.
