As entrepreneurs who run their own full-time business, or side hustlers that have a part-time gig in addition to a day job, we’re often victims of what entrepreneur Chris Ducker calls “superhero syndrome.” Whether we’re working the 9 to 5 and freelancing on the side or have a six- or seven-figure business that we run, we think we can do it all when it comes to our work.
We’re not mere humans. We’re business superheros! Or so we think.
Or maybe you know you can’t handle everything. But you just don’t feel like we can trust other people to help us out.
Never mind that you’re not an expert in all the areas we need to be to have a successful venture — none of us has world-class knowledge on accounting, marketing, sales, productivity, management, and skills to handle every single aspect of our gigs. We might have two areas nailed down, maybe even three or four.
But all of them? Nope. Again, you’re not superhuman. (Sorry.)
The bottom line: we all only have so much time in a day or knowledge in our heads. We can’t know — or do — everything all the time, all at once.
That’s why we need to work smarter. And that starts with outsourcing what we can. [Read more…]
