Fashion is at the forefront of defining ourselves as individuals. We all have our own way of presenting ourselves to others, and it doesn’t end with the clothes we wear. People take pride in their appearance by wearing makeup or doing their hair, remodeling their homes with companies like Cabinet IQ, and even the cars they drive.
The clothes we wear have perhaps the most variety in terms of style, but some clothing pieces that we think are unique and fashionable now might not be so favorable in a few years. That being said, there are some fashion pieces that you should keep in your closet until you can’t wear them anymore, because they will stand the test of time for decades to come.
Converse Chuck Taylors
This fashionable form of footwear has been around since the 1930s, believe it or not, albeit with some slight modifications since then. However, the classic design has remained the same, and it’s not surprising why: they’re extremely fashionable. There’s a reason people are still wearing these kicks today, as they can be worn casually or dressed up for a formal-casual occasion. While they aren’t really used in sports today, we don’t expect them to leave the public’s eye anytime soon.
Jeans
It might seem trivial to consider jeans a fashion piece, as they are the most commonly worn choice of pants, but that’s exactly why they are so timeless. Jeans have been around since the 1800s, but people are still wearing them today. There have been some innovations, such as implementing flex material to make them more comfortable and stretchy, as well as buying them bedazzled, distressed with holes, and in various colors and shades. Buy them in a dark wash, light wash, black, red, or blue—whatever you want!
The Black Suit and Solid Dress
You’ll likely need a solid suit for the occasional interview, funeral, or wedding, and you can’t go wrong with a solid black. Not only does it go with pretty much everything, but it’s also appropriate for any time of the year. It looks sleek and clean, and while there might be more options to choose from, you can rest easy knowing it won’t ever go out of style. The same goes for a sold dress. Sure, you could get something a little more exotic or fancy, but keeping at least one plain, solid dress in your closet will guarantee that you’ve got at least one dress for every occasion.
Leather Jackets
When is leather not fashionable? Leather jackets were hot in the 80s, but they have endured through the ages and are still the epitome of casual and high-fashion style. There’s just something about a leather jacket that looks good no matter what time of year it is. They come in a variety of colors but most often are seen in blacks and browns, as well as different styles that can be purchased based on the wearer’s personal preference. While you probably won’t want to look like The Terminator or The Fonz, there are countless selections of modern leather jackets that will turn heads as you walk by.
Aviators
It’s good to have a pair of sunglasses handy for those particularly sunny days spent outdoors, but not all sunglasses were created equal. Some can be downright ugly, while others are trendy and relevant—but for how long, nobody knows. However, Aviators can be seen each and every summer. They’re not only classic but cool and effective. You don’t even have to spend hundreds of dollars on a high-quality name brand, as even gas station Aviators hold a certain heir of style elevation with them.
Wear it Until You Can’t
If you find yourself wearing any of these clothing pieces often, you don’t have to worry about them going out of style anytime soon. And if you realized that you don’t have any of these items of clothing, this is your wake-up call to go out and pick up a leather jacket or pair of Chuck Taylors, because they’re sure to stay relevant for many, many years.
