Our homes are our havens of relaxation and escape. It’s where we can curl up on the couch with a blanket, turn on the fire, and start a new show on our favorite streaming service, where we eat dinner as a family, and where we can indulge in our favorite hobbies like reading or woodworking.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our work offices felt the same? Regardless of whether you work in an office at a place like Votacall, a marketing firm, or even an accounting office, there are ways you can make your workspace feel more like home.
Add Décor
If you want to make your office feel a bit more like home, you’ll need to decorate it appropriately. This might mean putting family pictures on your desk, hanging a framed poster or two on the walls, adding a potted plant, laying down a soft rug, putting a few nic-nacs on your desk, or just about anything else you can think of to make your office mimic your home.
With so many options to choose from and different ways to decorate your office, the possibilities are endless.
Familiar Scents
While the smell of old coffee might be appealing to some, others can grow tired of the same old office smell. A good way to combat this is by adding a wax burner to your office space. This will allow you to change up the scent each day if you choose. Depending on your mood or the season, you might want to go with freshly fallen rain, mowed grass, pumpkin spice, the woods, or essentially any other smell you believe would benefit your office.
This way, you can make your office space match the same scent as your lovely home!
Adjust the Lighting
Nobody wants to work under fluorescent lighting for eight hours a day, five days a week. Instead, setting up lamps or other light sources that give off warm, soft lights that are not only much easier on the eyes and the brain but succeed in feeling extremely cozy at the same time. Get a lamp, replace office bulbs, change the lighting of your computer, or get access to natural light through a window if possible.
Make it Comfortable
Your home is your place of comfort, the place where you go to relax. Why shouldn’t your office be the same way? There are a few things you can do to make your office nearly as comfortable as home. For instance, upgrading your desk chair from a standard seat to a luxury desk chair. This will help your back, improve your posture, and lead to a happier day.
Depending on where your office is located and the time of year, you might also want to keep a hoodie, blanket, or space heater handy during the winter, or even a portable fan for summer. Do whatever it takes to remain comfortable while you’re getting your work done to boost your performance and mood.
A New Way to Work From Home
By turning your work office into more of a homey environment, we can do all the same work we’re used to doing in a way that lets us feel safe, comfortable, and happy to be home.
