Achieving a good work-life balance is one of the greatest challenges in the modern world. Many of today’s positions require employees to make sacrifices when it comes to their personal lives and their free time. If you want to avoid a stressful work environment and long, grueling hours at the office, consider pursuing one of these jobs to achieve a better work-life balance.
Recently rated as one of the best jobs for millennials by U.S. News, dental hygienist is a great option for those looking for a position with a good work-life balance. This is a health care job that’s always in demand and has an impressive median salary of $72,330. Though it’s not an especially exciting job, many people enjoy the calm, low-stress work environment and interacting with patients on a daily basis.
Some dental hygienists work part time to improve their work-life balance. However, even those who work full time have very favorable hours for a health care profession. Most work regular office hours only on weekdays or the occasional Saturday. There are no projects or meetings that require staying late at the office. Excellent job security also adds to the great work-life balance this position provides.
According to a 2016 report by Glassdoor, corporate recruiters had one of the top work-life balance ratings of the positions listed on the site. This position was listed as having a median salary of $65,000. The field is considered fairly stable since there is almost always a need for skilled recruiters. More importantly, however, the nature of the job tends to create favorable conditions for those who don’t want work to become too demanding.
Corporate recruiters can often arrange for candidate interviews according to their own schedule. When interviews or meetings aren’t taking place, some are able to work from home. In fact, some recruiters only perform pre-interview screenings over the phone, so they are able to work remotely every day. Many recruiters don’t have to deal with stressful deadlines or time-consuming projects, which also helps to contribute to a better work-life balance.
Are you a skilled investor? If so, you might consider making it your full-time job. Investing can be a great way to increase your income while working entirely on your own schedule. Unlike becoming a trader for an investment firm, which can be very stressful and incredibly competitive, handling your own investments lets you take full control of your money.
You’ll need to have solid investments providing a steady income in order to take on this job, and the potential salary will really depend on how much you have available to invest. From there, you can consider mixing your reliable stocks with some higher-risk penny stocks to potentially earn big payoffs. Since you can work from home and decide on your own schedule, the work-life balance doesn’t get much better as long as you’re able to bring in ample returns on your investments.
Though these jobs are very different in nature, each one provides a work-life balance that may appeal to you. Consider these positions if you’re looking for a career that allows you to enjoy life to the fullest.
