How a person starts their morning will dictate the rest of their day, which is why hitting the ground running is so important. While the specifics of how each person begins their day will undoubtedly vary from person to person, incorporating these basic steps before you head off to work can set you up for success.
Forget the Snooze Button
How many mornings when your alarm goes off do you simply snooze it for five more minutes of sleep? And then five turns to ten? And then before you know it thirty minutes have passed and if you don’t fly through the rest of your morning now you’re going to be late for work? Save time in the morning by throwing the covers off of yourself instead of pulling them back over your head. You can utilize a variety of techniques to do this if you’re having trouble simply doing it. You could put your phone or other alarm far enough away that you need to get out of bed to shut it off, leave the door and curtain open to let sunlight in come morning, or even try collecting yourself and counting to ten, then sitting up throwing your legs over the side of the bed.
Whip Up a Healthy Breakfast
It’s called the most important meal of the day for a good reason, so don’t skip on it. When you first wake up in the morning, your body has fasted for eight hours and is dehydrated, so drinking eight to twelve ounces of water should be your first priority. After that, you’ve got a slew of tasty and nutritious breakfast options to fuel your brain and body. Eggs are full of protein and can be prepared in a variety of ways to suit your liking, oatmeal is high in fiber and great for weight loss (which can be topped with fruits and spices), and even just a protein shake or a smoothie can be enough if you’re seriously not hungry.
Get Your Heart Pumping
The longer your day goes on, the less likely you are to fit a workout into your schedule. A good way to get this over and done with is to do it first thing in the morning. By waking up just thirty minutes earlier, you can exercise and not have to fight with the internal struggle to go straight home after work instead of stopping by the gym first. If you want to head over to the gym to lift weights, that’s great! But you could also choose to do morning yoga, do a workout video, or even go for a jog around the block—just be sure to wear comfortable shoes if you do this every day, otherwise you might develop bunions that need to be removed from a medical professional like Northwest Surgery Center. By working up a sweat first thing, you’ll already be starting the day with a check off the list.
Anyone can be a Champion
Starting your day off right will help give you the extra bit of motivation you need throughout the day in order to achieve your goals and feel accomplished when it’s over. Being a champion means working your mind and body to increase productivity and mood. But if you’ve noticed, the requirements listed here aren’t limited to a certain audience: anyone can become a champion. All it takes is a little dedication and willpower.
