The COVID-19 pandemic came as a surprise to all of us. This virus has severely damaged the global economy.
Who would have thought many countries would be put on lockdown?
Businesses are struggling and employees are getting laid off. International flights are suspended. The transport industry is halted.
Let’s face it. Many of us are not prepared for this.
You’re lucky if you have savings and an emergency fund.
Some are also lucky to have been able to work from home since many companies have already adopted a work from home policy.
But if you lost your job because of the pandemic, how would you earn a living from now on?
In this post, I’ll show you how you can still make a living despite what’s going on in the world.
It’s not easy. Nothing is. But with patience and hard work, I know you can make it.
Get paid to write
Do you enjoy writing? Perhaps you’re good at research and have a way with words?
Many companies, especially those who operate their business online, have not stopped needing content since the pandemic.
Start a blog/vlog
If you love writing, why not create your own blog? This may not necessarily earn you money quickly though and it may some time. But with good content, research, and marketing strategies, you can gain traction and build a business around it.
You can start a vlog, too. Many people are online especially this quarantine so you have bigger chances of finding your audience. Be creative and make sure you deliver unique content.
Become a freelancer
Depending on your skill set, you can offer your expertise and offer different services online.
You can offer bookkeeping, web development, graphic designing, research, and other IT services to clients.
Get a part-time job
Going out may not be ideal knowing what’s happening outside, but with proper caution, you can get a job as an essential worker.
Stores may need additional manpower now to do deliveries.
You’ll be surprised that many people are still looking for babysitters. Working parents need someone to look after their children while they go to work. There may be reservations though. Make sure you observe proper health guidelines like hand washing.
Same with taking care of our elderly. Older people have the highest risk of getting infected so they need someone to assist them with their day to day activities.
Sell online
Start an online garage sale. What’s fun is you will get rid of the clutter in your home and at the same time, you will get to earn money!
If you’re a good cook, maybe you can sell food packs and offer a food delivery service?
Also, e-commerce sales jumped up during this pandemic because people are going online to shop.
Offer Delivery Services
Do you have a car? Drivers are on high-demand since restaurants can’t offer dine-in services. Reach out to local delivery companies and find out if they’re in need of an extra hand.
Become an Online Tutor
Schools have shut down but kids need to study and be entertained. As we attempt to transition to an online learning environment, take advantage and work as a tutor for kids.
Offer tutorial services based on your skills for example, maybe you can teach Math or Music through Zoom?
Answer surveys
Brands, research firms, and political organizations need people to evaluate a certain product, service, or any other topic. In exchange for your opinion, they will pay you for your time answering a few questions.
Complete online surveys frequently to earn extra. Visit legit online surveys like SurveySavvy, Survey Junkie, and Opinion World.
No one knows for sure when this pandemic will end. So the sooner we can adjust to the new normal, the better.
And most of all, we must learn from this pandemic.
If you were not able to save before, don’t make the same mistake again. As soon as you earn some money, start saving.
It’s during these times that we have to make smart financial decisions. Be frugal, but also be quick to notice a business opportunity.
What seems like a setback may become an opportunity for you for greater things.
We are living in a tough time. Hang in there. You’ve got this.
